Getting to Occoquan
A riverside town of some 800 people, Occoquan, Virginia is located on the banks of the Occoquan River just off of Interstate 95, approximately 24 miles south of Washington D.C. and 32 miles north of Fredericksburg, Virginia.I-95 from the North:
Take exit 160 for Occoquan/Lake Ridge and merge on to Route 123 North. Turn left at the third traffic light on to Commerce Street.
I-95 from the South:
Take exit 160 B for Occoquan/Lake Ridge and merge on to Route 123 North. Turn left at the fourth traffic light on to Commerce Street.
Route 123 from the North:
After crossing the Occoquan River on the Route 123 bridge, turn right at the first traffic light on to Commerce Street.
Parking:
Street parking is available throughout the town of Occoquan. In addition, there are several free municipal parking lots, the largest at the base of the Route 123 bridge on Mill Street. To reach these lots when entering town on Commerce Street, turn right on to Washington Street, and then right again on to Mill Street.
Tourist Information Center:
A Prince William County Tourist Information Center is located in Occoquan at 200 Mill Street. The Center has information on a wide range of attractions and events throughout Prince William County and the surrounding region.
Mill House Museum:
Formerly the miller's office, this structure at 412 Mill Street is all that remains of the first automated grist mill in the nation, built in 1759. Today it serves as a town museum operated by Historic Occoquan, Inc.
