Occoquan Historical Society Lecture, "The Suffragists at the Occoquan Workhouse" -- Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.
Come to the second installment of the Occoquan Historical Society's 2013 bi-monthly lecture series. Ms. Kathleen Pablo, a member of the Board of Directors of the 501(c)(3) Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association will speak on the suffragists whose imprisonment at the Occoquan Workhouse in 1917 was a turning point in the struggle for women's suffrage. The lecture will be held, weather permitting, outdoors at the Secret Garden Cafe, 404 Mill Street, Occoquan, VA. Food and drink will be available for purchase during the lecture.
Art on the Block -- Saturday, May 11, 2013 (1-5 p.m.)
Visit with more than 60 local artists while they work, participate in receptions, and sign up for special drawings involving the following galleries in Historic Occoquan, Virginia: Art A La Carte (310 Mill Street), Artists' Undertaking Gallery (309 Mill Street), The Loft Gallery (311 Mill Street), and the Mill Street Studio (416 Mill Street).
